At last, if you follow the steps correctly, your article is sure to increase its visibility and reach more readers.

Step1: Access the magazine

First of all, access the Lilac Magazine through the URL: https://magazine.lilaceducation.com/publication-list

You will see a list of published articles by our students. To increase your writing skills, you have to read a lot. So read as many articles as you can. In addition, you can make some structural comments on other pieces to initially practice your writing.

Step2: Choose a keyword

You will get an idea of what to write after reading many articles. Then choose a keyword for your article.

You can also use Google Keyword Planner to search high-volume keywords.  The higher the volume, the more SEO optimized it is. You will find two tools to generate keywords in Google Keyword Planner. “Discover New Keyword” and “Get Search Volume and Forecast”. Both of these tools are very useful for generating potential keywords.

Your keyword can be long-tailed or short-tailed. In other words, it could be one word or a phrase. For example, in this article, the keyword is “publish“.

Step3: Choose a slug

Choose a slug for your article. A slug is the last component of a URL that identifies a particular page on a website. To put it another way, it’s the section of the URL that explains what’s on the page. Writing a nice slug for your article can help you rank higher on Google. The slug must include the keyword. Also, you must ensure that your slug relates to what people want to see.

For example, the URL for the Publication list is:

https://magazine.lilaceducation.com/publication-list

Here the slug is “publication-list”. By looking at the slug, it is clear that the link will take you to the list of publication.

Step4: Choose a headline/ Tagline

To make your article SEO-effective, it is necessary to emphasize the title or headline. Your keyword phrase must be present on the title, as the title holds a lot of value in the google search engine. The tag line or headline, or in other words, title, is recommended to be 8-12 words long with 40-59 characters.

Step 5: Write your content

Your content should be well-written, appealing and informative. The language should be reader-friendly.

Passive voice is not recommended in SEO articles. Use active voice instead.

You must avoid long paragraphs, long and complex sentences and complicated words. A paragraph should be a maximum of 300 words. When more than 300 words, split them with sub-headings.

Be consistent in using the keyword in your content, not too much, not too less. It should flow naturally throughout the text. Preferably use it in the first sentence and the first paragraph. Keywords should incorporate in the heading and one or two subheadings too. It is also recommended to be included in the last sentence to highlight the keywords even more. The recommended keyword density is 1-3 per cent.

To increase your readability, focus on transition words. One sentence should flow naturally to the next.

Step6: Proofread your content

Once finish writing, revise it to check for any spelling or grammatical mistake. There are so many free tools you can use. We recommend you to use Grammarly and Small Tool SEO for grammar and plagiarism check.

Step 7: Choose a Meta tag

Meta tags are bits and pieces of the text that describes your article. This tag does not appear in your publication. Instead, it is used for searchers to know what your article is about.

Write a metatag to catch the searcher’s attention using the focus words within 160 characters. For example, your meta tag can include the title and a short description from the introduction and conclusion.

Step8: Submit your work
