Adaptation can be of many kinds. For example: from book to film, from film to the book, from book to stage performance, from book to song, from film to game or game to thematic parks. Usually, adapted works are taken to be less weighty, superficial and trifling. But our history timeline has shown many examples that adaptations can be better than the prior work. For example, The Godfather trilogy film enhanced the popularity of the prior book to a great extent which was never possible for the book alone.

Adapted films from novels or periodicals are the most common form of adaptation. When an adapted film gets released it creates lots of enthusiasm in the audience. This curiosity stems from the popularity of the novel or any sort of prior writing. It is often seen that a novel becomes bestselling just after the release of its adapted film or series. Many examples can be dragged in this consideration: The Harry Potter Series, 13 reasons Why, The Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Tess of D’urvervilles, The Lord of The Rings, The Wizard of OZ, etc.
Adapting a work is often a risky job as the audience is always curious in finding faults with it. As soon as the adapted work gets released, a criticism board comes forward with the intention of finding similarities and dissimilarities with the prior work. There is always a tendency to term the prior or main work as the superior one. But that should not always be the ground to judge an adapted work. Adaptation is an art, with its own characteristics. It may differ from the main work. The audience should exercise the habit of appreciating its uniqueness as an art. The adapted film or series or song creates something new out of the prior work. That is where the creation of adaptation lies.

It is always a pleasurable thing to see an adapted version of a favorite book or film. The curiosity should not be blindly plunged on finding similarities. As a separate art, it should be accepted and given priority.
