I am sure that many of us have faced difficulties in forming a new kind of behaviour. The latest action could be making any healthy or efficient habit. For example, exercise. How many of us make a plan of doing exercise regularly but unfortunately failed to continue that? I am positive that the number is not a few. It may happen because of a lack of willpower or maybe the fear of not being the best. However, you can overcome this situation by applying a simple 1-minute rule. Would you like to know what the secret 1-minute rule could be? Well, here it is. At first, you have to make sure what behaviour you want to form that you want to do daily. Do you confirm anything yet? Well, for now, I am choosing walking to give you a proper illustration for a better understanding. Let’s say you want to include walking in your daily life to healthy and fit. Therefore, you made a plan that you will spend 30 minutes walking.

What’s more, you start right away as you have all the energy and motivation to do that. Nevertheless, after some days, you do not feel to walk 30 minutes every day. In other words, you do not have the willpower anymore to continue this act. In addition, you stopped walking to be fit and healthy. Here comes the mighty 1-minute secret rule to form this new behaviour. After making the plan for walking daily, please do not skip it for a single day. You have to spend at least 1 minute every day on it. I would say you should start with 1- minute walking instead of 30 minutes. You have to do walking daily even if you feel tired or emotionally down someday. Having said that I mean, you will give minimum effort every day to that essential behavioural act. By doing so, walking will be part of your daily life. Once you make walking your habit, then you can expand the time. Gradually, you can extend the time from 1-minute to 1-hour! Isn’t it amazing? Here, I am just giving the example of walking, but you can apply it to any new behaviour. Like, reading, exercising, writing etc. When you start to form the latest action, don’t think about being the best on that particular act. Above all, making the habit is essential first before focusing on being the best on it.
