Abstract

Moringa is a valuable multipurpose tree with leaves enriched with antioxidants, phytohormones, amino acids, vitamins, and mineral nutrients, making it a natural bio-stimulant. However, more information is needed on the impacts of moringa leaf extract (MLE) as a bio-stimulant to improve the growth and yield of vegetable crops in Bangladesh. However, the effectiveness of MLE is associated with its beneficial components, especially the high concentration of different phytohormones, nutrients, secondary metabolites, amino acids, and bioactive compounds. This seminar paper is exclusively summarized as a review paper to know the role of Moringa leaf extract as a bio-stimulant for growth and yield and the quality of different vegetables. The foliar application of MLE at growth stages significantly positively affected the development and yield parameters of Cauliflower, Cabbage, Tomato and Brinjal plants, which resulted in a remarkable increase in gross and marketable yield. Vegetables fertilized with MLE (25 mL plant-1 ) at 2 weeks after transplanting and after every two weeks thereafter (T4) is a promising practice for higher growth and yield in Brinjal, Cabbage and Cauliflower compared to control (T1/No MLE) and other applications (T2 and T3) across all of these vegetable varieties. Moringa leaf extract (MLE) could improve several nutritional quality traits of different vegetables, including Radish, Broccoli, Tomato and Brinjal plants. This review port the cept of Moringa leaf extract, and further research can be done to screen more vegetables, which will give optimum yield with MLE as an effective bio-stimulant for improving sustainable agricultural productivity.
