I am neither a parent nor I have ever looked after or raised a child, so everything I will say is from my perspective and how I feel about this whole matter. Well, parenting is a very challenging and tricky job. Raising a child isn’t something that you can do with your eyes shut. Here, you need to invest your money, energy, and most importantly, time. A right and proper upbringing are vital for a child.

Below I am going to talk about a few things that parents shouldn’t do with their children:
•Don’t force your child on anything. Most parents tend to move their children to follow in their footsteps. For example, a father who wanted to be a doctor often forces his son or daughter to be a doctor. Or a father who is a businessman wants his son to run the business when he grows old. Sometimes parents want to see their dreams being accomplished by their children. But for a while, consider your child as a separate human being. He has his dreams- dreams he wants to achieve. You want him to be a doctor or engineer, but he aspires to be a writer, a chef, or maybe a painter.

If you keep forcing your child on something maybe in the end, he will agree with it but do you think he will be happy? There will always be sorrow that he couldn’t fulfil his dreams. And what do parents want? To see their children happy right?

•Secondly, don’t compare your children with anyone. Parents keep comparing their children with others, and this ends up hurting children. Maybe your child isn’t good at math, but if you pay close attention, you will see that he is good in other fields. Due to constant comparison, a child starts losing his self-esteem. They feel that they failed to please their parents, and their stress level increases.

•And lastly, don’t use abusive words. Be cautious with your words because words are so powerful that they either build a person or break him. When your child fails in something instead of calling him a failure, tell him it’s okay. Tell him some encouraging words. These will help him to get rid of his fear and he will start to believe in himself.
A relation between a parent and a child is like any other relationship that requires respect from both sides. Let’s try to raise confident human beings and put an end to toxic parenting.
