We are still living in 2020. And that’s not the most pleasant thing for most of us. For some, the number ‘2020’ is now cursed. It’s been a year since the first Covid cases in Wuhan, China. But, the fact is that 2020 is almost over. We are hanging on a cliff. If we keep holding on to it, we’ll face the pain of the past. But if we let go of that and fall into the ocean, we’ll survive. That is the ocean of hopes, 2021. Accepting 2021 is as important as saying goodbye to 2020 and all negativity.

2020 has been a tough year for all of us. We lost a number of our dear ones. We were apart and far from our loved ones. Masks, social distancing, online classes, exams, meetings, work from home-these things influenced our lives a lot. It took us almost forever to accept it. Wearing masks, social distancing, and following the health precautions also took some time to adopt. However, now that we are almost at the end of 2020, we should have a vacation. I’m not talking about a tour to Srimongol and breaking the rules to get infected. I’m talking about giving yourself a break. A break from the busy life you lead.

We all need therapy. A vacation can be a great choice to discover yourself and become more productive. Just for the sake of your well-being, you need this vacation. You don’t need a luxury palace with golden bathtubs, a five-star hotel jacuzzis, or fancy and expensive things for this vacation. You can easily have this ‘at-home’ vacation. Turn your house into your holiday house. All you need for this is time. Three days should be enough. Too much break may affect your productivity.

On the other hand, a small break won’t be helpful either unless you are okay with it. A vacation should go just the way you want it to go. Relaxation should be on your to-do list for the last week of December.

After you manage three days from December 2020, all you need is a little planning. The first day is going to be all about self-care. We often ignore self-care. We must keep in mind that self-care means both body and mind. Your physical well-being and mental well-being always affect your overall well-being. That is why I want you to focus on self-care at first. Celebrate your day, starting with a nourishing breakfast. It will kickstart your day. Make sure to include fibers, protein, and something yummy, of course. Hydrate yourself throughout the day. Take a warm shower with candles lit around you. Make it feel just the way you want it to be. Take your time and indulge yourself in every drop of water. Wear that party outfit of yours even though you will be staying at home all day. Grab a good book, a warm cup of coffee, along with a nice view from your terrace, rooftop, or maybe just from your window. Take a sip and feel the moment. Make sure you are 100 feet away from social media and toxic people.
Stay away from all negative thoughts and toxicity. Surround yourself with love and positivity. Self-love isn’t selfishness. Enjoy the day of watching your favourite movies and shows. Don’t go scrolling through your feeds. Instead, clear your mind and do some journaling. Write down all the things you are grateful for in your journal. Meditate a little. Feel every breath you take and look for inner peace. Or maybe go crazy and dance and play music loud and sing along. Have your favourite food at dinner. Cook it yourself or order it from the restaurant. Though processed food can be extremely delicious, it is best to avoid it. To end the night, read a good book, and fall asleep early.

The next day of vacation should be to discover. Discover yourself and try something new throughout the day. Try experimenting with your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Follow a recipe and make something for yourself and the members of your family. Experiment with your outfits and fashion. Make some DIY cards for your family and friends for the new year. Or maybe some e-cards this year. Enjoy the day trying some new skills and things you always wanted to try. Watch newly released films. Could you create a new playlist and jam it? After the social media detox, I was hoping you could go and video chats with all of your friends. Talk to your loved ones and with the people who make you smile. Enjoy the day the way you want.

The third is the most important day of your break. That’s when you pick yourself up and get your life together. To accept 2021 will be our first aim. Masks and zoom meetings are not a new lifestyle. We are supposed to take it as a part of our regular life. Accepting the ‘new normal’ might be a challenge. That is why it is the best time to write down your goals and start working on them. Also, please write down your possible obstacles and break them. Try to use your time wisely. Plan your year and everything you want to accomplish. This way, you will be able to focus on each activity and take your time. This small activity will boost productivity and increase the overall rate of success.

Mainly, the first day is for you, the second day is for kicking 2020’s curse out of your life, and the third day is for you to accept 2021. A short vacation before starting something big is always pleasant. Even though this whole thing can be pointless to some people, the outcome will result in a new you, a better, and more productive you. Once it’s over, you’ll feel fresh.

2020 is about to leave, and 2021 is arriving. Are you ready to restart your life? Accepting the ‘new normal’ and acing our respective fields are what we are looking forward to in 2021. 2021 is your year, 2021 is our year, and 2021 is the year of hopes.
